FIRST AID TRAINING WORKSHOP FOR TEACHERS | WELLBEING
First aid is an essential skill that every teacher must master to ensure student safety in the school environment. Spending hours each day caring for and supervising children, teachers are effectively the "first responders" on the scene during an emergency.
A sudden fall, a febrile seizure, a bleeding wound, or a sudden cardiac arrest can happen at any moment. Participating in first aid training not only helps teachers react swiftly and correctly but also fosters a comprehensively safe educational environment, minimizing risks and elevating the school's overall educational quality.
Wellbeing – a proud member of the British Safety Council – has developed a specialized First Aid Training Workshop for Teachers, meticulously designed around real-life scenarios spanning from kindergarten to high school environments.
1. Why Must Teachers Attend This First Aid Workshop?
Teachers do more than impart knowledge; they directly monitor and protect students throughout the school day. According to Ministry of Health statistics, thousands of medical incidents and accidents occur in schools annually. The vast majority of these can be effectively controlled if teachers are equipped with timely first aid skills.
The Wellbeing First Aid Workshop empowers teachers to:
-
Rapidly identify common pediatric emergencies (febrile seizures, nosebleeds, severe allergies, fall traumas, drowning, cardiac arrest, etc.).
-
Proficiently execute basic life-saving techniques: CPR, bleeding control, wound care, and safe victim transport.
-
Build team reflexes, ensuring seamless coordination among staff when a crisis strikes.
-
Receive a 1-year valid First Aid Certificate, fully compliant with the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) and the Ministry of Health (MOH).
2. Detailed Workshop Curriculum
Wellbeing offers 3 flexible training packages (3, 6, or 8 hours) to accommodate school teaching schedules. Classes are strictly capped at 30 participants, guaranteeing that every teacher practices on international-standard AHA (American Heart Association) mannequins and receives direct feedback from medical doctors.
-
2.1. The 6 Basic Principles of First Aid: The foundational protocol to maintain calm and act systematically: assessing scene safety, checking responsiveness, calling 115 immediately, assessing ABCs (Airway, Breathing, Circulation), intervening appropriately, and providing continuous monitoring until paramedics arrive.
-
2.2. High-Quality CPR: The most critical module. Teachers practice the standard 30:2 ratio (compressions to ventilations) on both adult and pediatric mannequins. This includes mastering the correct depth (5-6 cm for adults, 4-5 cm for children), rate (100-120 bpm), precise hand placement, effective rescue breathing without causing aspiration, and integrating an AED (Automated External Defibrillator).
-
2.3. Six Steps for Bleeding Control: Assessing severity, applying temporary hemostasis (direct pressure or pressure points), cleaning with saline/clean water, sterile bandaging, limb elevation, and monitoring for hemorrhagic shock.
-
2.4. Safe Victim Transport: Techniques for lifting and using stretchers properly to avoid exacerbating spinal injuries or fractures. Scenarios are adapted to school settings, practicing safe evacuations through narrow corridors, stairs, and playgrounds.
-
2.5. Managing Common Pediatric Illnesses: Tailored especially for kindergarten and primary teachers. Identifying and managing febrile seizures (safe cooling, recovery position), diarrhea/vomiting (preventing dehydration, choking prevention), nosebleeds, anaphylaxis, acute asthma, minor burns, and airway obstructions (choking).
-
2.6. Handling Common School Accidents: Hands-on simulations of the most frequent school incidents: stair falls, sports collisions, pool drowning, chemical burns in labs, and electrocution from school equipment.
3. Tangible Benefits for the School
-
Elevated Practical Skills: Teachers gain the confidence to handle emergencies instantly, minimizing harm to students. Muscle memory built through mannequin practice ensures fast, accurate reflexes during real crises.
-
A Verifiably Safe Environment: A fully trained staff ready to respond 24/7 creates a genuinely secure environment, giving parents absolute peace of mind.
-
Brand Value & Prestige: The MOLISA and MOH-recognized certification elevates the school's reputation, making it a competitive advantage in attracting new enrollments.
-
Strict Legal Compliance: The program fully meets the occupational first aid training requirements stipulated in the Law on Occupational Safety and Health 2015 and Circular 19/2016/TT-BYT, shielding the school from legal liabilities.
